It’s primarily a red wine region and specialises in lighter-style wines made from the gamay grape variety. Beaujolais is a pretty French region in the south of Burgundy. Gamay was never taken very. The rest is planted with a single red grape: the gamay, or to be more precise, gamay noir à jus blanc.
Like most AOC wines they are not labeled varietally.
This is a vibrant wine with bright cherry colour and aromas of red currants. Medium bodied with juicy berry flavours and soft blackcurrant notes on the finish. Perfect on its own or with cured meats and cheeses. This fresh and fruity red is the result of a quick fermentation process that ends up with a tasty, clean wine that is enjoyed by palates the world over.

Made from the gamay grape variety, the best beaujolais always has a streak of tartness and crunchiness, like a bowl of summer fruit with a few greener berries in among the truly ripe cherries. The vineyard has grown very nicely and the ripeness is developing very quickly. The situation is very healthy. There are neither diseases nor rot.

Au Château de Cercy (Denicé), Michel et Cyril PICARD utilisent un procédé innovant pour les cuvées spéciales. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry with plush red berries tinged with orange zest. It just misses a little tension on the finish but otherwise this is a fine contribution to the vintage.
Winter was mild and humi and we could say that Spring and the first days of Summer have followed the same pattern. Domaine de la Combe au Loup. If tenderness and elegance could exist as one they’d look like this!
The Chiroubles has a dress of bright red and effortlessly mixes cherry and violet aromas. A plump wine that is so generous it gives like a benevolant aunt at Christmas. Garnet in colour, the cherry and peach aroma hits the senses like whirlwind. This wine could do with some ageing. The Morgon brings cheese, meats in sauce, and game to life and then some!
This past May and June, hail, a permanent threat in the Burgundy region, hit hard twice. Fresh red fruits on the nose with a hint of dark cherry. Slightly spicy with a touch of grey pepper, liquorice and a touch of rose flow.
